A really lovely way to give your bouquet away rather than throwing it!

I saw this and thought “how lovely”. The idea came from a lovely wedding in America, after the meal and first dance, the Bride and Groom invited all the married couples to join them for a “Special Dance”. At the end of the dance they asked everyone who had been married less than 5, then 10 years to leave the floor. This continued until the last couple other than the Bride and Groom were on the dance floor. The other couple had been married for 62 years! and to honour this the Bride presented her bouquet to the Lady – who happened to be her Great Grandmother – How lovely is that and what a super way to include others and to honour Marriage!

You’ve chosen the venue and now it’s time to book your entertainment. Booking your entertainment is a big decision and great care should be taken when making a choice. The best way of finding good entertainment is by personal recommendation, ask your friends and relatives and then use these recommendations to provide you with a short list. Once you’ve got your list, make an appointment to meet each one and discuss the type of party you are hoping for.

Ask practical questions like:

Who would be there for you should they be unable to perform? (Even Entertainers get sick, have transport breakdowns or have accidents!)

How long do they need for setting up?

Once you have made your short list make arrangements to go and see them in action, at a wedding or Family celebration – you need someone who can respond to all ages—Don’t be tempted to book the DJ from the club, unless it’s purely friends of clubbing age!

Don’t scrimp on your entertainment – you spend a small fortune on your outfit, the cake, the ceremony and transport. All are important but mostly needed for a short part of the day. The DJ or entertainment will be the spine of your party and he/she will be working for about five hours, a huge chunk of the day.

Always ask them to set up before you are due to arrive at the venue. A good benchmark is to ask for everything to be set by the time of your wedding ceremony. This gives you an hour or so to ensure the set up and sound testing is complete before you and your guests arrive. This early set up also gives you the option of having background music during the meal. A good alternative is to compile a CD of your favourite tracks and ask a trusted Usher to be in charge of the music during the meal and be ready to turn it off before the Speeches!

The best tip I suggest to ensure your party goes well is to send a card to your guests with the invitations, asking each guest to chose three songs to be played at your wedding and return it to you with the reply. You simply send these to your DJ or band and ask them to include this within the “play list”.

As with all aspects of your wedding – take your time and chose wisely!
