A really lovely way to give your bouquet away rather than throwing it!

I saw this and thought “how lovely”. The idea came from a lovely wedding in America, after the meal and first dance, the Bride and Groom invited all the married couples to join them for a “Special Dance”. At the end of the dance they asked everyone who had been married less than 5, then 10 years to leave the floor. This continued until the last couple other than the Bride and Groom were on the dance floor. The other couple had been married for 62 years! and to honour this the Bride presented her bouquet to the Lady – who happened to be her Great Grandmother – How lovely is that and what a super way to include others and to honour Marriage!

The 10th of October 2010 was deemed to be very lucky! So much it seemed that The Registrar’s opened their doors on a Sunday! Many couples chose this day to be their Special day and were married last weekend. There were a reported 3,000 weddings on the 10th in the UK, 65,000 in the US and millions all over the world as a whole. I am in Las Vegas and I saw my first Bride and Groom at 8:40 in the hotel Lobby after their wedding! They were not the first of the day – in the Bellagio their Wedding Chapels were all fully booked all day. We lost count of the happy couples we saw on that day alone.

When we went out of the Hotel and drove down The Strip the Brides were everywhere! Some in traditional Bridal gowns complete with all the trimmings, veil, tiara flowers and bridesmaids. Others a simpler white dress, but all excited and looking very happy.

I visited several wedding chapels on the Strip and a couple of drive throughs! The limos were queuing to get in! I saw three Brides having photos taken in a small courtyard at the same time, how the Guests managed not to be in all the pictures is a small miracle!

Another couple made their vows on the pavement outside, in front of the Bellagio fountains – very pretty but I’m surprised that they could hear each other over the noise of the music and water cannons!

All in all they had a wonderful day – and after all that’s what it’s all about, isn’t it?

I was happy to co-ordinate the wedding of two lovely people last Saturday at a new Venue for me. The couple desperately wanted a Marquee wedding and both animal lovers thought a farm setting would be perfect! They chose Snelson Farm which is situated between Lavenham and Harold deep in the beautiful Bedfordshire countryside.

The marquee was set on a manicured lawn and looked amazing. My day started at 9.00 when I left for the wedding. When I arrived the hair and make-up was well underway. I made a pot of tea and poured a few glasses of Bucks Fizz! The atmosphere was buzzing but my job was to keep the happy buzz continuing and to ensure everything was running to plan. Next I prepared the buffet lunch, ensuring that everyone had something to eat and drink before they were dressed and in good time. The Photographer arrived and the Bridesmaids got into their dressed one by one and were photographed. Meanwhile the bride and her chief bridesmaid and Mum went to get on The Wedding dress! When she was almost lased up the Photographer took some getting ready shots and then she completed getting ready in private while he took more photos down stairs.

The Photographer was finished at the House and went on to The Church, the cars arrived and we were still on schedule. The Bridesmaids and Mum left first, closely followed by My Bride and Dad.

I tidied the house, loaded the dishwasher and then off to the Marquee! When I arrived the tables were set and everything looked fabulous! I finished the outside in preparation for the drinks reception, added the Ivory lanterns and checked the fairy lights and went back inside to put up the “wedding guest tree” Some people call them wishing trees as your Guests write good wishes to you on the cards or tags and tie them to the tree. After the wedding you ask someone responsible to remove the tags from the tree and put them into a box for you to look at when you return from Honeymoon! Some couples keep them in a box and some put them into a book- It’s up to you!

The new Mr and Mrs arrived at the reception in a beautiful horse and carriage. It was drawn by a pair o beautiful grey horses who were immaculately turned out. Then as a surprise her own horse was brought to the farm by a friend, what an amazing surprise!

We had the line up, clapped in the Bride and Groom enjoyed a very tasty meal, entertaining speeches and the day finished with a wedding Party!
Everything went according to plan, they had the wedding of their dreams and everyone was happy! Job Done! I got home late, got up early and went to the wedding exhibition. What a weekend – What a wonderful Job!
